Job 1: 10 “Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land”.
There is an activity that the LORD does constantly that is not known to us but sadly the devil knows this very well. The devil reveals this truth to us and we need to know it. Knowing it should drive someone to the LORD constantly. The Bible says, by what the devil reveals, there is a hedge that the LORD by Himself built around Job and by extension all God’s beloved own. The devil says to the LORD… “have You not build a hedge around him, his house, and all that he has on every side. The hedge literally is a fence or boundary formed by closely growing bushes or shrubs. In finances, it is a way of protecting oneself against financial loss or other adverse circumstances. So, the hedge of God is God’s covering upon His people. The meaning and the synonym of hedge is the actual work the LORD intended to do as His jealousy and doting over His own. The LORD by the meaning of hedge desire to safeguard, protect, shield, provide divine cover, divine insurance for His beloved. So, what the devil revealed is that the LORD placed a cover over Job’s life, his house and everything that carries his identities… his wife, children, business, company et cetera.
Sadly, Job did not know this side of God. He did not know that there is the hedge of God around him. He was constantly in fear concerning everything that he has… This is evident in Job’s activities. Job 1:4… And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. 5. And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. Actually, doing this was good, a very good spiritual investment but Job was doing it out of fear. By his words, Job said, for the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me (Job 3:25). Job was thinking that anything evil could happen to his companies, his children, and all that he possesses. While he was thinking evil, he did not know that God built an edge around him.
For the devil to mention these facts about Job, it was because he must have tried Job and did not succeed. He tried to attack every department of Job’s life but the devil met the hedge of God covering Job and all that pertains to him. Then the devil came by the ministry of accusation (Rev.12: 10). In Benin city, the head of a vigilante group, the son of an herbalist, came to check what he and his team saw the night before. The attention of the man of God, the owner of the house was called to this man and his friends. They said the night before while patrolling the area, they found the Pastor’s house with no door or window and it was all white with the roof touching the sky. The man of God understood what the LORD was doing. He recalled Psalm 121: 3-4… 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. That is the hedge of the LORD at work.
In New Orleans, USA during the Hurricane Katrina ravage, God demonstrated His hedge at work in Jesse Duplantis’ house. When the authority asked everyone to vacate their houses to a safe location, the man of God committed his house into the hands of God in prayers. By the time he came back when the flooding had receded, he found other houses in his neighbourhood destroyed but not his own and according to him, not even one leaf in his compound fell to the ground. That is the hedge of work. 2 Timothy 1: 12. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. God can use the resources of heaven, the resources of the earth in plants and animals to protect his own.A young boy was kidnapped by ritualist and where he was tied in the forest, a lion appeared and the ritualist ran away and the lion stood there till hunters came to the scene and the lion departed. So, it is very important to commit all that we possess to the LORD’s hand. It is very important to stay in God’s presence and in His secret place. This obligation from the LORD is not for everyone. God said to satan concerning Job… Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (Job 1:8). So, desire to live a life that pleases God. What we should do is to bless the LORD for the hedge we have enjoyed thus far. We also pray the prayer of thanksgiving for the hedge to remain and pray the more for prayers to secure your divine insurance.

1. Father LORD, I thank You for all You have been doing in my life, for the hedges that have been covering. me.
2. Father LORD, I thank You for Your mercies endures forever and You will continue to watch over me, in the name of Jesus.
3. No weapon formed or fashioned against me shall prosper, in the name of Jesus.
4. When the enemy shall come against me like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will raise up a standard against them, in the name of Jesus.
5. My Father, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me, Your rod and staff, they comfort me, in the name of Jesus.
